Ministries
Green Hill Baptist Church is dedicated to serving our Lord Jesus Christ in any way we can, as well as to making an impact for Him all the way from our local community to the furthest points of the globe.
It is our prayer that under God's leadership, we give Christians of all ages ample opportunity to serve the Lord in a variety of different ministries. The following is a list of the ministries currently offered at Green Hill. Lord Willing, it will grow daily!
English as a Second Language (ESL)
This class is held every Sunday at 3:00 p.m. and Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the Harter Building. It is for people whose native language is something other than English. It is designed to help them learn to speak conversational English.
Green Hill Food Bank (an agency of Harvest Hope)
The Food Bank is open every Monday and Wednesday, between 9:00 a.m . and 1:00 p.m., in the church office. A picture Id is required to pick-up food, and you may only visit the pantry once a month.
Shut-in Ministry
This is a visitation ministry for seniors who can no longer come to church due to extenuating circumstances.
Men's Ministry
This is a ministry for our men which offers opportunities for fellowship, mission projects, Bible study, and fun. This group typically meets every other month. Check The Herald for any upcoming events.
Women's Ministry
This is a ministry for our ladies which offers opportunities for fellowship, mission projects, Bible study, and fun. This group typically meets every other month. Check The Herald for any upcoming events.
Women's Missionary Union (WMU) known as the Louise Hill Missions Group
This is a ministry of our women which meets the first Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. in the Annex Building. This is a monthly opportunity for our women to be involved in mission projects,
fellowship, Bible study, and fun.
Children's Ministry
There are many ministries within the church body such as GA's, RA's, Mission Friends, children's choirs, as well as periodically scheduled projects and events. Are children not only learn about Jesus but have fun doing so. Additionally, we have a children's sermon in our Sunday worship experience, and Children's Church follows. Check out the home page for a schedule of days and times.
Sanctuary Choir
If you can sing (or even if you can't), we want you. If you feel led to join the choir and glorify God with your voice, contact our Minister of Music. The choir has lots of fun and fellowship. Youth are welcome to join until such a time as there are enough youth who wish to sing. At that time a Youth Choir will be started back.
Choir practice is every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Green Hill Orchestra
If you play a musical instrument, then we would love to have you join our group. We seek to glorify God with our musical instruments. We practice at 9:00 a.m. Sunday mornings before worship service. If interested,
please contact the Minister of Music.
Creative Movement Team
Have you got some special moves? Well then this team is for you. Please contact the church office if you are interested in joining, and they will put you in touch with the right person.
Children's Choir
Make a Joyful noise unto the Lord! That's exactly what our children do. Some a little more loudly than others, and some a little off key, but isn't it such a blessing to hear children sing their hearts out for the Lord.
This choir meets on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m.
International Families Ministry
Green Hill Baptist has a very diverse congregation which includes numerous cultures and nationalities.
There are many opportunities to help. Please contact the church office if you would like to work with,
or serve, our internationals.
International Friendship Ministry
If you like working with International's, then you will love this opportunity. About once a quarter, we provide a meal for the International students attending The University of South Carolina. There are opportunities to cook a dish or come and serve food to the students. You can meet a lot of future international friends!
Sunshine Group
This is group for our senior citizens and meets monthly from September through May on the second Tuesday each month at 10:45 a.m. If you are a senior citizen who has a desire to fellowship in Christ-like love, and you would like to grow spiritually, this group is for you.
Prayer Ministry
There are opportunities at Green Hill for coorporate prayer. The prayer requests received from Sunday School and Worship are taken to the Men's Prayer Breakfast which meets at the Lizard's Thicket on Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia every Monday at 6:00 a.m. The men have breakfast together and then pray for the requests. Additionally, you can come at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday's to pray together for our church congregation, family, friends, Country, world, etc. This ministry meets in the prayer room located upstairs behind the sanctuary.
Fellowship Ministry
We here at Green Hill Baptist love to fellowship, so there are many opportunities. Whether you come to the fellowship time with Mr. Russell, just before Sunday School, Wednesday night supper, or attend one of our meals (during Easter, Thanksgiving, or Christmas). Let's not forget our Christmas Left-overs fellowship.
Let's just say, we are Baptists and we love to eat and fellowship.
Additionally, we enjoy fellowshiping at our many ministry activities and events.
Sunday School
Sunday School is held every Sunday morning at 9:15 a.m. There is a class for you!

State Fair Ministry
Green Hill Baptist has ministry opportunities every year at the State Fair! If you like Fair Food,
Fun, and Freely sharing the Gospel, then this is a ministry for you.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is held every year during the month of June. If you would like to help, please contact the church office. Children are a blessing from God, and working with them is a blessing.
Tape Ministry
Green Hill Baptist records its sermons, and we provide tapes for a minimal purchase to anyone wishing to get one. Additionally, you can listen to the sermons for free on this web page. However, there may be some lag time. Contact the church office for additional information.
Sound Ministry
If you are interested in running our sound system during worship times and special events, then this ministry could be for you. Please contact the church office if you are interested.
Nursery Ministry
If you are very loving and nurturing, and would like to serve as a worker in our nursery,
please contact the church office and see where you can be plugged in.
Crafty Ladies
Come join us as we bring our crafts and work together. Monthly Devotional. Earliest arrival at 4:30 p.m. and continue to arrive until 6:00 p.m. in the Annex Building. Ladies work until ready to go home - usually arount 8:00 p.m. If you are the first to arrive, come by the church office.
Local Missions, State Missions, North American Missions (Nova Scotia, Canada), International Missions (India)
Green Hill Baptist is a mission minded church. There are plenty of mission opportunities every year.
